You already had tools to do all those things. It’s boring moments after you learn about it.

Also, I thought extra hacking buttons in WD2 was a shallow way of making the hacking “more varied.” You have 4 buttons, proximity, disable, distract, and use. I want a reason to be in the open world beyond just exploring it and hearing all the jokes the writers thought of. Sure, this might appeal to some people, but I’ve seen enough open worlds, who cares at this point. WD2 just sticks you in an open world and tells you to have fun. Overall I just felt like there was something to be experienced instead of the numbers game WD2 seems to be. There were a few collectibles but not a bunch of bs like the scouting points. I also remember combat and stealth being pretty fun, although I haven’t done much of it in WD2 yet. In WD2 I watched the scene around the campfire and thought “that’s it?” Nobody has any important backstory, it feels so one dimensional. Aiden Pearce had an interesting past with strong motivations for the things he did, the characters were all very different yet very interesting types of people, the story had a reason for happening with a lot of moving parts instead of just “Let’s overthrow a evil corporation! Entertainingly!” Aiden’s personal motivations interweaves with the mass surveillance thing. I played Watch Dogs 1 several years ago and although don’t recall a lot of the specifics, I remember it left a great impression on me.

The characters immediately struck me as cringey and uninteresting, the story seems cliche and one dimensional, and the world seems to be full of (admittedly nice looking) bullshit you have to collect just for the sake of increasing the fractions in the menus. Started this for the first time today and after 2 hours I have to say this game is a piece of garbage.
